Mad Monday Footy Trip in Cairns: A Grand Final Weekend to Remember!

Cairns was buzzing this past weekend as footy clubs from across Australia poured into our city for the much-anticipated AFL Grand Final Weekend. The excitement was unreal, and the energy was unstoppable as we celebrated Mad Monday Footy Trip in true style. Kicking off at 9 a.m. at the Sports Bar, fans gathered early, ready to immerse themselves in an unforgettable day of footy, friendship, and fierce rivalries.

The Atmosphere

The Sports Bar became ground zero for footy fanatics, a place where AFL enthusiasts from all over Australia could unite and share their passion for the game. Clubs from all over the country showed up, decked out in their team colors, with die-hard supporters bringing the energy and pride for their hometown teams. From Sydney Swans to Brisbane Lions loyalists, the bar was a kaleidoscope of jerseys, scarves, and face paint.

And although the grand final game between the Swans and the Lions wasn’t the closest or most intense we've seen, the crowd didn’t let that dampen their spirits. There was something truly special about watching the match with a full bar of footy fans who share the same love for AFL. Cheers, chants, and songs filled the air as everyone watched the game live and loud.

Food, Drinks, and Good Times

Opening bright and early, the Sports Bar kept the atmosphere lively with food and drink specials all day long. From classic pub fare to Aussie favorites, there was something for everyone to fuel up on before, during, and after the big match. And, of course, a variety of cold drinks kept the celebrations going as the hours flew by, with some fans starting as early as the bar opened and keeping the party alive until the final siren.

AFL on the Big Screen

The AFL Grand Final was broadcast live on big screens with surround sound, making sure every fan in the bar had the best seat in the house. The experience of watching a game with such a passionate crowd was thrilling, with everyone’s eyes glued to the screen as the Lions took on the Swans. Every goal was celebrated, and even the near misses sparked cheers or gasps, bringing everyone together in the moment. The sense of unity among fans, regardless of team allegiance, was a powerful reminder of the spirit of AFL.

Celebrating Mad Monday

After the final siren, the celebrations continued as clubs from all corners of Australia united to relive the best moments of the season. The energy carried over into a Mad Monday for the ages, with supporters reveling in the camaraderie and memories made over the weekend. The passion for AFL didn’t end when the final whistle blew; instead, it fueled countless stories, laughs, and connections that will surely be remembered long after the game.
